Pros

Benefits for part time workers after 2 years. Easy to accumulate stock. Quick advancement if you're willing to work hours that are all over the board. Cashiering and floor workers see physical benefits because of the exercise. Excellent break structure: very well enforced. The amusement of customers returns is worth mentioning. You'll walk into your house after a shift chuckling, saying "You'll never believe what happened today".

Cons

Cashiering comes with a price- you'll be expected to memorize lengthy scripts to upgrade memberships and you'll have to recite them to every shopper. They hate it and get angry. Management implies that if you don't get two upgrades per day you will lose your job. As a manager your priorities are strictly to the club. If an associate's kid gets hurt at school or the associate is very sick management has been taught to tell you "no, you can't leave." Or "no, you can't not come in." and threaten you with counseling that doesn't wind up happening. I worked tons of extra shifts and called in two times in a few years and got that treatment- once was because of a car accident (totaled by getting tboned) turning into the parking lot- I was threatened with counseling even though they came out to see the accident scene. They don't tell you that halfway through the year they start longer hours. All of a sudden your schedule changes to 9:45. I'd finish my closing work by 9:05 and just walk the aisles looking for stuff to do. My being there late when the store was already in order was a waste of their money. Unless there is something to do the employees should be allowed to go home. They do not address this and will not allow you to only work until 9:00. Also, they do not tell you at hire date that between Nov and Jan 15th they will not give you off or adjust a schedule so they can avoid the headache of schedule changes. That means if you need wed off on Nov 5th for any reason they say no, and will not approve of trading with someone. Expect to work the worst hours anytime you get promoted- it'll stay like that until a new person joins your area. Occasional weekends means 8 hours sat and sun. They will work you full time for a few weeks and then give you a 20 hr week so they can avoid giving you benefits. The leadership tract ("I am a leader" program) tends to never actually start, even if they give you the materials. The mentorship program is a joke- they don't mentor you ever, just put you into the computer as one of their 3 mentees. It looks good on a resume. The computer based learning and leadership assessments are excellent though. Be prepared to sweat out home office coming in and quizzing you on scripts.

Pros

At the corporate level, the benefits and compensation are excellent. Colleagues at the producer level are standout teammates, talented, collaborative, and genuinely invested in the company's success. They consistently bring forward meaningful contributions and make the day-to-day work rewarding.

Cons

"Chaos" is not a word I'm using loosely. It's the word echoed across teams, including outside of Experience and Product. Leadership operates in a constant state of upheaval: frequent role changes, structural reorganizations, and strategy pivots that are implemented without any clear plan or consideration of cross-team impact. Incredibly talented people are let go as a result of poor leadership and people management decisions. There is no real culture of mentorship above the senior manager level. Leadership above the senior manager level made clear that mentorship isn't their responsibility and that you're expected to figure it out on your own, despite the company having training resources available. That disconnect is telling.
