Pros

It's a job. It doesn't open too early or close too late. If you work here long enough you can get some decent medical benefits. Corporate seems to be looking at good things Costco has been doing for years and stealing them.

Cons

Only way to promote is to do the minimum work and brown nose. I.E. employees that converse with other employees get passed over by lesser qualified employees that avoid doing work by hanging out with managers. To make matters worse those employees will be training the newly promoted and continuing to carry the department. Work schedule is inconsistent. In fairness most retail schedules are. Work load has been increasing but pay hasn't. We seem to be perpetually cutting number of employees and positions leaving more responsibility to fall on those of us still here. Managers manage the place to avoid the ire of district and regional managers that will periodically stop by. When they do expect to be given direction that may or may not make sense. Also expect for them to tell you what they had you do before was wrong (They will deny telling you to do it in the first place.) and redo it. Often times back to the way you had it before. If you do good work don't expect to get recognized for it, but if you do good work and you mess up expect to be scolded. If you are a terrible worker don't expect anything to happen to you. If you are a bad worker and you do something right expect tons of praise. In fact expect to be employee of the month or a promotion. (I only wish I was joking.) On that same note, if you do something that a higher up likes expect your team lead, or manager depending on who the higher up is and who is present, to take credit for it. No that I think about it, we seem to hire and promote a lot of sociopaths. Members aren't any better. They always look down upon you and expect you to give them whatever they want since the pay to shop there. Pay is better at Costco.

Pros

At the corporate level, the benefits and compensation are excellent. Colleagues at the producer level are standout teammates, talented, collaborative, and genuinely invested in the company's success. They consistently bring forward meaningful contributions and make the day-to-day work rewarding.

Cons

"Chaos" is not a word I'm using loosely. It's the word echoed across teams, including outside of Experience and Product. Leadership operates in a constant state of upheaval: frequent role changes, structural reorganizations, and strategy pivots that are implemented without any clear plan or consideration of cross-team impact. Incredibly talented people are let go as a result of poor leadership and people management decisions. There is no real culture of mentorship above the senior manager level. Leadership above the senior manager level made clear that mentorship isn't their responsibility and that you're expected to figure it out on your own, despite the company having training resources available. That disconnect is telling.
