Pros
- The initial onboarding process was smooth, and the job position aligned with what was described during the interview process. - Eric and Gunther, the senior leadership, are generally reasonable and open to communication. - The other senior attorneys in other offices are very helpful and knowledgeable.
Cons
- The firm's lack of standard procedures is a major issue. While many attorneys touch every case, there is almost no oversight or accountability for the legal support staff. With nearly 30 attorneys, it's difficult to manage workflow effectively without a clear system in place. - There seems to be a serious gap in mentorship, especially for Paralegals, who are often left without proper guidance. The lead Paralegal claims that they already provided instructions, but it's clear that either the training wasn't effective or needs to be presented differently. This results in frequent missed deadlines, which reflects poorly on the firm. - The firm tries to scale, but without solid procedures and consistent communication, it's a challenging environment to grow in. Attorneys may also have different expectations or practices, depending on how well they get along with their assigned Paralegal, but this inconsistency causes confusion and inefficiencies. - There is also an unhealthy culture of favoritism within the firm, especially from a new junior partner who openly promotes a "pyramid of favorites." Despite being upfront with her about my background, goals, and preferences during onboarding, I was later assigned tasks I had explicitly said I was uncomfortable with and not part of my job description. - The firm’s management seems to falter when senior leadership (Eric and Gunther) are out of the office. During those times, Monica and Tori, who step in, seem to lose control of operations, further complicating the work environment. - They changed payroll with zero notice right before the holidays and were less than understanding when staff panicked. It caused me severe distress and although Tori was supportive during this time, it was never a position I expected to be in a salaried job. - There are instances of inappropriate behavior within the firm. Male attorneys can get away with being disrespectful to female attorneys, and when these issues are raised, it coincidentally leads to the female attorneys getting reprimanded instead, again over components not part of their job description.
