A hot mess led opaquely by uppity, careless management - Marketing Sartorius Employee Review

Pros

Working from home full time

Cons

Endless conveyor belt of ad-hoc tasks with no notice. Consistently operates on a last-minute basis which is alarming in medicine, not to mention a company that is over 100 years old. When managers put in 2 weeks' notice, they're often asked to leave that day. What message does upper management think that sends to team members? They're probably too arrogant to care. Unsurprisingly, turnover is extremely high. Multiple people per team have left in the last year. But the hiring freeze continues, and you're expected to keep up with the same conveyor belt. And with budget cuts you can't outsource work anymore, so take on 3X the work with no bonus this year. And the campaign strategies are bad. Even when the work is planned, 95% is nothing you're proud of. After all, this company's idea of "brand" is to only use the color yellow And To Capitalize Every Word Ever... what do you expect. At the last all-hands when asked about potential layoffs, the CEO said, "I don't know where this fantasy is coming from that there will be layoffs. But I cannot say that there will never be large layoffs." How reassuring... for the rate of turnover, that is. Wish he'd spend as much time on employee morale as he does buying his suits. PS: Look how short the positive reviews are. Either they're fake or farmed from naive students at the end of their internships. Grain of salt recommended.

Dear colleague, thanks for taking the time it took you to write this down. It’s hard to read that this is what you think about Sartorius as a workplace at this time. We have forwarded your feedback internally and kindly ask you to address these topics again yourself with your manager and the HR team. A few words on the place we are in as a company right now: After the extraordinary growth of the last three years, we are now in a phase of normalization. We can see that this change and the accompanying measures, such as the mentioned cost optimization, are difficult for many to comprehend. Nevertheless, we see this time as an opportunity to consolidate processes, to involve the thousands of new colleagues, who have joined in the last two years, even more intensively and to intensify the integration of the acquired companies. This should ultimately lead to better processes and thus impact some of your observations positively. Thank you already today for your contribution to this. There is another point you mentioned that we would like to comment on. You mention that you feel like fluctuation is high. In fact, the fluctuation rate in 2022 was 9.2% - which is a healthy level . Thanks again for the open words and your contribution. Best regards Sartorius Corporate Communications

Pros

Strong technical expertise within the organization. Exposure to a broad range of customers and applications.

Cons

My experience at this company was disappointing due to a lack of transparency, consistency, and fairness in enforcement of company policy. Compensation for employees in the same or similar roles varied significantly, with decisions often appearing to be based on individual manager discretion rather than clear, objective criteria. I also observed what appeared to be gender bias in pay decisions. Additionally, there were employees who contributed very little while others carried a disproportionate workload. This was extremely demotivating for those who worked hard, as there appeared to be little recognition or reward for taking on additional responsibility and delivering results.

Dear former colleague, thank you for sharing your experience here. Your feedback on policy enforcement, potential gender bias, and uneven workload describes conditions that are not in line with what we aim for as an employer. If you haven’t done so, please feel free to provide more context via email at employer.communications@sartorius.com. We will forward your feedback to the appropriate internal contacts. Important note: If you have experienced or witnessed discrimination based on gender at Sartorius, please report this directly to our Compliance Team either by email at compliance@sartorius.com or by anonymously submitting a report via the Whistleblower Portal: https://www.bkms-system.net/bkwebanon/report/clientInfo?cin=20sarto15.
