Pros
There are no good reasons to work here. It may seem like a solid opportunity, but you will find that to be a persistent illusion—a lie that will slowly eat away at your self-confidence and integrity. They truly do set you up to fail. The people may be kind to you at first, but you can not trust anyone. This is one of the unhealthiest work cultures in Savannah despite the frequent magazine coverage to the contrary. The people who succeed are ‘yes’ men and women to the President. Diversity of opinion, or any diversity for that matter, is a forgone concept. Absolutely no one has any business acumen and they lampoon anyone who strives to exercise some. Blind optimism is not real encouragement, and as the impossible tasks and goals begin to pile on, you will realize that you are carrying the workload of what should be three or seven people, or a whole department. They really are flying blind. Executive leadership continually makes poor decisions with only the short-term in mind, so often at the expense of their lowest level and least financially secure employees. Moral hypocrisy abounds.
Cons
There is and has never been a functioning, professional Human Resources Department. Claims and complaints of sexual harassment, abuse of power, and misogyny are ignored. Leadership so often fails to correctly terminate employees. This can manifest in several ways. Maybe they will drag their feet on confronting an abuser in the workplace, so that scores of qualified women resign in protest or frustration—decimating your team. Maybe top leadership spoiled the year’s budget, so then they’ll pressure those hardworking, yet regrettably highest paid employees to resign—in an effort to reset their payroll while symbolically absolving themselves of guilt. Or then again, they also could simply just ask you one day out of the blue to reapply for your job. You are replaceable, and you’ll likely be making less than the person that you’re replacing. Additionally, it should be noted that this company’s former body care manufacturer is currently being investigated by the state of NY for child labor abuses. Although this company has since cut ties with the cult responsible, they only did so after an Inside Edition episode aired with incriminating footage. The other beauty companies associated with this cult cut ties immediately upon being contacted by Inside Edition staff, not after public pressure.
