Pros
Free Tickets after 30 days, discounts, and free trips to other theme parks in the area. You get tan. There is cheap food for the employees to eat ($2-$3 meals) and free drinks when you get a break. They will pay you for all hours, inlcuding breaks (except for 10 minutes). If you get to part time status you will work towards some other cool benefits like educational benefits. You'll get certified in CPR and First Aid. You are working for a large company. Advice: If you want a job, test for the shallow water attendant. Deep water is a difficult test to take if you are not used to swimming 300 yards continuously and then doing several intensive water tests right after with no break.
Cons
During the training week they will give you almost 40 hours and you will be dead tired each day because it is constant water endurance with infrequent breaks. Got to use the bathroom? Too bad. Odd scheduling issues, such as scheduling one person for over 11 hours and with infrequent breaks. Sometimes you won't get a break and no one cares at all. If you are well hydrated, beware. You won't be able to take a bathroom break for hours and no one cares. I'm sure this forces some employees to pee in the water...what choice do they have when they are on top of a slide and not being relieved for break for hours? The customers (guests) can be rude and might even put their hands on you aggressively and you might be in a spot where you can't signal for help. All the team members are eager to see others fail, so needed on the job training information is not passed on to new employees and they will talk about you if they think you made a mistake. You get audited constantly and you can get fired if you don't pass the audits. Other employees and team leads will yell at the team members instead of being helpful and instructive. The culture of the Auquatica shallow water crew is much different than the culinary or other park operations areas. Beware if you are female, it's a boy's club and your fellow women co-workers are catty. You can't leave for lunch, because you would never get back in time. Sometimes parking is a hassle. You might have to park at Sea World and catch a shuttle to get over to Aquatica. Once you find out what this job is really like, you won't be able to leave it for a while. The hand book says 90 days you can apply for other positions, but it could be longer since they invest a lot in training life guards. You are working for a large company that has a lot of enemies because of the other business unit Sea World.
