Pros

It's nice to be in the downtown area. Sometimes the culture is nice, as birthdays are celebrated on a monthly basis. There are a handful of really awesome people that are super smart and nice. They have so much potential, are great teammates, and anyone would learn a great deal from them. Seamgen is a great transition stepping stone to get you where you want to be in your career. The CEO is a huge advocate for education, so he will be supportive of most any technology you want to learn. As a result, he will fund courses and gives access to online tutorial sites.

Cons

Upper management gets away with a lot of things such as gossiping, the way they treat employees, and being ignorant about the technologies they are supposed to have mastered. The reason this happens is because these few bad managers are buddies with leadership. Some examples of this include the following: - Some upper management / tech leads would reprimand employees in public. These reprimands would not be constructive and would happen countless times. - I had a tech lead who would constantly throw me and my other teammates under the bus in meetings. When I confronted him about it, he said that it was "all in my head", and that he never does anything like that. He would change the direction of the code, and would blame me and my teammates for HIS malfunctioning code. There is also a pretty big "brogrammer" culture there among the leadership. Projects are underbid, and programmers are not included in estimation meetings very often. This causes pushed back deadlines and unhappy customers. There are no evaluations and there was no exit interview. This showed that the company wasn't that interested in improving upon itself.

Pros

Seamgen is a great budding company with a load of opportunity. There are many projects for developers to work on and enhance their skills. Leadership is good about paying for training and there are opportunities to make additional income in the company. Some clients have ample work to keep the company busy, so there is room to earn extra for additional hours. Most programmer's that work for Seamgen are solid and there are veterans in the company in which to learn. Projects range from web development, mobile and desktop and developers work closely with clients in an agile setting.

Cons

Some of the administration tasks, seem disorganized. Seems like its gotten better, though recently with the replacement of some of the administrators. The company is growing rapidly, so developers are spread thin until new developers are brought on board and up to speed. There is definitely an expectation to be able to fulfill a consulting role. Devs who haven't done consulting are not necessarily adept with dealing directly with the client, and are put in a client-facing position. As with any consulting project, there is a shuffling of developers to fill roles for new clients.
