Pros

There are plenty of opportunities (in part due to high turnover) to pick up new skills by stepping into new roles. The leadership is generally comprised of self-taught individuals who are willing to give the same opportunity for on-the-job training (albeit at the customer's expense) to new employees. The company does have a nice holiday celebration with free food and drink at the end of the year. We all received protective covers for our company tablets as a gift this past year.

Cons

Projects are generally go over budget by wasting most of the allotted time going back-and-forth on visual designs that amount to nothing more than debates over personal opinions and preferences. Development usually starts behind the eight-ball and it's a mad rush to get something done. Staff is often unqualified, making it difficult if not impossible to recover.

Seamgen Response

I believe we are flexible and generous with our new hires and offer ample time to meet and interact with the client and the team. While I don't believe this review is representative of current employee sentiments, nor reflective of shortcomings in our client performance (our clients evaluate us at every turn and we listen), whenever a less than positive review is posted, we need to take heed and determine if changes need to be made. That is exactly what we are doing. And we are happy to discuss changes in the works with anyone who is considering employment with us. Again, we take all feedback seriously and are looking at whether our measures of success and performance incentives motivate the behaviors we know are essential for success. We appreciate this feedback and are intent on constantly improving. Marc Alringer President

Pros

Seamgen is a great budding company with a load of opportunity. There are many projects for developers to work on and enhance their skills. Leadership is good about paying for training and there are opportunities to make additional income in the company. Some clients have ample work to keep the company busy, so there is room to earn extra for additional hours. Most programmer's that work for Seamgen are solid and there are veterans in the company in which to learn. Projects range from web development, mobile and desktop and developers work closely with clients in an agile setting.

Cons

Some of the administration tasks, seem disorganized. Seems like its gotten better, though recently with the replacement of some of the administrators. The company is growing rapidly, so developers are spread thin until new developers are brought on board and up to speed. There is definitely an expectation to be able to fulfill a consulting role. Devs who haven't done consulting are not necessarily adept with dealing directly with the client, and are put in a client-facing position. As with any consulting project, there is a shuffling of developers to fill roles for new clients.
