Pros
Great mission, brand new CEO who seems incredibly genuine and willing to treat employees at all levels with respect and kindness, and SOME departments are filled with wonderful, collaborative, mission driven individuals and managers. If you end up in a great department (which I finally have) your employment experience will live up to the outward perception of the organization.
Cons
Parking charges are ridiculous for a residential neighborhood ($10/day). If you waste hours of your life taking the bus rather than parking you get a $4 commute bonus which seems too small. No meaningful training for managers. Lots of people manage staff that have obviously not be trained to mange people. Patronizing attitude among some mid level managers. One manager who earns close to $200k/year and gets a bonus on top of that tried to make me feel like I should be grateful for my $0.54/hr raise.... The bonus structure varies through out the organization. The yearly bonus for most staff ends up being only $300 or $500 and taxes are taken from that. Basically your bonus goes straight to paying for parking. Some mangers like to remind employees of their elevated position by treating hourly staff like children who aren't qualified to have an opinion on the company's business. Lack of transparency. Every decision seems to be made under a shroud of secrecy. Need more staff to keep up with technological demands of the organization. Many managers seems to be more worried about their personal success over the success of the organization or team. I have seen individuals throw others "under the bus" by spreading false information for their own benefit.
