Oh boy, where to start with the MD turned CIO or whatever title he's calling himself. From day one of him being hired all of the FTE staff has been under threat of being outsourced in some way or another.
The first to go was our service desk, took the quality there from "bad, but fixable" to so abysmal that most people only call when there are no other options. To our "CIO" it was and is a "smashing success."
Next was moving our EHR hosting to a low-to-mid teir MSP, with the idea that they would be able to take care of all of the day to do. Reality is that cause a great deal of issues, from zero visibility into the day-to-day processes of managing our EHR to KNOWING PROMOTING DEFECTIVE CONFIGURATIONS TO PRODUCTION!!! ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS!!! It's OK though, yet another "smashing success."
We were told straight up that there would be no layoffs. That was a lie, and our "CIO" spun it as we were told that there would be no *system wide* layoffs. The cherry on to was being told "for every $250k of IT spend I have, that is a kid who does not get their cancer treatment." Really leave a great feeling, practical being told that we are killing kids by working here. Doubly so when our CIO's total compensation last year was $1.4 MILLION. By his logic, he's killed 6 kids. Nice.
Now, to top it all off, we're looking at moving to a managed services model for all of IT, parting it out to 5 different vendors. OH! And we've already decided who gets what without any bids for the various slices. Have we learned nothing?
Now do we have budget bloat? Yes, we very much do because we like to buy every expensive tool or product because Gartner says "it's cool." Seriously? How do you expect to support this incoherent mess?
Sticking to the IT space, I cannot, in good conscious, recommend this as a place to work. The poor leadership will leave you feeling soulless and jaded.
