Pros

Overall, Security Service is a great place to work. The pay is good and the environment is great. They use a career path which allows you to move up and be promoted based on the work that you do rather than having to wait for someone to leave the credit union. Employees are cross trained so those on the teller line also do loans and new accounts once they are trained on those things. Helping members improve their finances can be quite satisfying.

Cons

I didn’t love the Sales Process they have you certify on every 6 months. If you are good at getting products you can get away with doing it your own way if you have the right manager. Also would like to see the amount of sick time you can take off re-looked at, and maybe it will be after Covid. I always felt like I was expected to be at work unless I was puking or on my death bed since you can’t use all the sick time you have accrued unless you are on FMLA.

Pros

It's a great introduction to financial institutions and the company has a strong message and desire to help employees as well as members. Amazing 401k and very good health benefits, and assistance with mortgage after 3 years employment. Also finally getting new teller tech after 18 years.

Cons

Downside is that the new CEO is extremely sales driven and the local management is 10-20 + years tenured. Several managers are often aggressive or unprofessional, play favorites, and constantly micromanage and document everything. The environment feels harsh and you will be put on improvement plans for any mistakes or not meeting high sales goals. AI is being heavily integrated and PTO is now accrual based and not given at the beginning of the year anymore to avoid paying out PTO to terminated employees. You can’t transfer to other departments unless you live in Texas and work for years there.
