Pros

They offer good benefits. SSFCU offers a office like environment.

Cons

Be ready to work long days and be asked to work of your days off. Being a teller can be stressful because they will only assign one teller to the drive thru and one in the lobby. Other employees will jump on and help but by the time they do so you’ve already dealt with a lot. If you’re a officer you are somewhat trained but every situation is different and if you ask for help your co workers will be annoyed because they are already dealing with so much. You also have to learn how to use very outdated applications and any mistakes will force you to have to call the customer to come back to the branch. Very inconvenient process. Management was at times very unprofessional. The breaking point for me was being forced to do things that I wasn’t trained to do, due to staff issues. I was set up for failure countless times and would have people very angry with me. I went into the job with high hopes and left with horrible Anxiety issues.

Pros

It's a great introduction to financial institutions and the company has a strong message and desire to help employees as well as members. Amazing 401k and very good health benefits, and assistance with mortgage after 3 years employment. Also finally getting new teller tech after 18 years.

Cons

Downside is that the new CEO is extremely sales driven and the local management is 10-20 + years tenured. Several managers are often aggressive or unprofessional, play favorites, and constantly micromanage and document everything. The environment feels harsh and you will be put on improvement plans for any mistakes or not meeting high sales goals. AI is being heavily integrated and PTO is now accrual based and not given at the beginning of the year anymore to avoid paying out PTO to terminated employees. You can’t transfer to other departments unless you live in Texas and work for years there.
