Pros
-you get to eat the chocolates during breaks -outdated registers were recently updated to modern POS systems -pays a little bit better than a similar retail job and pays weekly- don't have to wait as long between checks -always something to do, shifts go by fast (at least during the holiday season) -customers love the store -employees are allowed to get tips -gracious about letting you schedule shifts around school/childcare/other needs
Cons
-middle management tends to be very stressed out and often it gets taken out on employees -seasonal workers work extremely hard and take the brunt of the difficulties of the holidays -chances of being kept on after holidays are slim to none -the uniform for female workers is only flattering if you are VERY thin. It looks bad on bigger girls, and is quite restrictive around the bust. The uniform requires pantyhose, which tears so much due to snagging on boxes, kneeling to stock low shelves, etc that most have had to replace it 3-5 times on average every holiday season worked. This really adds up, and the company doesn't pay for it. There is also the fact that because it's a dress, it causes excessive male gaze to be directed at female employees, which is uncomfortable. It is so dated that employees are embarrassed to walk around during break because of the stares and laughs. -management will harshly reprimand you for having "timeliness issues" if you are even 30 seconds late to punch in on the computer. If someone held up the bathroom, you got stuck talking, or someone was standing in your way, too bad. You are considered to have a "lateness problem"! -interestingly enough, mgmt will often expect/demand you to stay later than scheduled, or come in to cover unscheduled shifts on a dime. If you are not able to do so, you may be shuffled down to low priority and given way less hours the next week. Unfortunately passive agressive behavior like this seems to be very common at See's
