Pros

NONE. Absolutely would not recommended

Cons

Hmmm. Where do I start. Literally this company hired about 20-30 new clincians in various states... Beginning roughly in may of 2023.... And had trouble getting clients for those clinicans... Despite us therapist insisting we would do our own marketing.... They continued to say "they have it under control" and come September 2023....they LAID OFF almost everyone!!! Literally fired 20-30 people within half of a day. We all woke up with no explanation as to why we had a random meeting scheduled with someone we've never met....right before an all staff meeting.... And were fired on the spot. Clients were not given notice... OH AND, during the zoom call when they were firing us all....they locked all of our accounts, emails, etc so we could not access ANY of our items immediately following the zoom call!?!?! VERY SKETCHY... They said "today is your last day" to literally over 20 people (only keeping MAYBE 1 person in each state) on the drop of a dime. VERY unprofessional. I had a couple of clients and feel that it is unethical to do that to those clients.

Sensible Care Response

We appreciate the time you have taken to share your experience at Sensible Care. We are disheartened to read about your dissatisfaction, and we extend our deepest sympathies for the inconvenience and distress caused. Our aim is to maintain an open and honest dialogue with our present and past employees. The decision made in September 2023 was indeed a challenging one and was not taken lightly. Due to a shift in market demands, we found it necessary to realign our resources and focus primarily on meeting the growing needs within California, where a significant influx of clients necessitated a larger clinician base. We understand the abrupt nature of the transition may have caused discomfort. Our priority was to ensure that all affected individuals were informed personally before any public announcement was made. We acknowledge the concern regarding client notification and transition, and we have taken steps to ensure that all clients received the necessary support and information to transition. At Sensible Care, we continue to learn and evolve. We are indeed hiring, with a concentrated focus on regions where demand has surged, in order to effectively serve our clients and provide stable employment opportunities for our clinicians. We welcome former, current, and prospective employees to reach out with any further questions or concerns. We wish you the best in your future endeavors and thank you once again for your feedback.

Pros

The role provided valuable experience working with diverse clients in a fast-paced telehealth environment. It was a good opportunity to strengthen clinical skills, crisis assessment, documentation, and treatment planning. Some coworkers were supportive and collaborative, and the remote structure offered flexibility and convenience.

Cons

The productivity expectations were difficult to sustain long term, especially while balancing documentation, administrative responsibilities, and quality client care. Clinicians were required to use two separate EHR systems, which made workflows inefficient and time-consuming. One of the systems felt outdated and impractical, adding unnecessary stress and administrative burden to the workday. The onboarding and training process also felt rushed and insufficient for the complexity of the role. Much of the onboarding work was expected to be completed prior to the official start date and compensated at a significantly lower hourly rate. Beyond the initial training day and a brief follow-up the following week, there was limited structured support before clinicians were expected to begin seeing clients immediately. Appointments started on day one, leaving little time to become comfortable with the EHR systems, workflows, documentation expectations, and overall processes. There was also an expectation to maintain a high caseload as a “cushion” to account for cancellations, no-shows, and productivity requirements. This often resulted in overloaded schedules and made it difficult to maintain a sustainable work-life balance while still providing quality care and completing documentation thoroughly. Schedules could also become fragmented throughout the day, contributing to burnout. Communication and support from management were inconsistent, and there was significant pressure surrounding metrics and billable hours. Overall, the workload often felt heavier than what could realistically be completed during scheduled hours.
