Pros

Because of the small company size, every employee has the ability to make a significant impact everyday. The company creates a great culture that puts the employee first and no level of leadership is inaccessible for feedback.

Cons

Due to the small nature of the company, many employees are asked to wear extra hats and carry additional responsibility to continue to drive the company forward. This never surpasses a level of reasonable regarding expectations per person.

Sharpen Response

Hello "Fulfilled, fast-paced employee," Thank you for taking the time to review your experience working for Sharpen! We are so grateful for our hard-working Sharpenites and your willingness to provide feedback. You hit the nail on the head that there are pros and cons of working for a scaling technology company. For those that enjoy that big impact, visibility, and ownership, Sharpen is a great place to be. We strive to challenge our employees but always want to make sure that is it part of a sensible work-life balance, so it is reassuring that you mentioned the demands of your role have never been unreasonable. You were spot on in mentioning it as a potential con, as those that shy away from that "pressure" may not flourish in this environment. We recognize we ask a lot and try to provide incentives and initiatives to help keep that balance. In addition to our flexible time off, fully paid premiums, stocked pantry, we are going to start a new rewards program too. Keep an eye out this month for more! Sincerely, Sharpen's HR Director

Pros

Sharpen is a small company with big experience. They have great people with years of experience in the CX arena. They believe in what they do! Consistent with the industry they serve, they place customer experience at the center of everything they do and everything they create. They pride themselves on an employee first/customer first orientation and it shows. Sharpen was recently acquired, and the company that invested in them (Teleo) embraces their same culture and orientation. Besides bringing new ideas and perspective, Teleo also brings investment money to the table. This is already proving fruitful with a handful of fast contributing new executives and complementary technology acquisitions. Sharpen is already a great company, but is poised to do many more great things moving forward.

Cons

A con to some, Sharpen is a David in a sea of Goliaths. They are surrounded by a number of extremely large and highly recognized players in the space. Thus, they struggle early for name recognition. That said, once they get in front of a prospect their experience and their technology speaks for itself. Secondly, due to circumstances beyond their control (prior to 2019), Sharpen has struggled to obtain investment capital. With the acquisition and Teleo investment, that situation has been totally corrected.

Pros

There really isn't any pros here. They try and lure you with equity options that are worthless.

Cons

You will get laid off and worked so hard with a skeleton crew. This is probably the worst company I've ever worked for.
