Pros
I love the benefits that a part-time employee receives. Vacation time based on hours worked per week, 401k match up to 6% starting on a year anniversary at the company for a kick start to your retirement portfolio, Holiday pay 4 hours for days worked on and free flu shot all provided by the employer. Not to mention 40% off everything throughout the year and 50% employee appreciation discount 4 times a year for family and friends makes it extremely desirable for family members of employee. I love the people I work with and Company party is pretty good too. The customers become so familiar as you may see them pretty often. It is the best job I have every had for part-time. Calling another store is always an option. People are always willing to share their knowledge of product and application methods/ computer things.
Cons
As with any job there are bad things. The one bad is if you work the weekends you won't have much ability to call the hotline. There are resources but it is really hard to find them. You really rely on other stores with more exp to guide you. It helps but they can only do so much for you. You have to learn A LOT of stuff. I speak fluent Spanish so it comes in handy but in my area if you do not know Spanish you are at an extreme disadvantage. Most of the contractors in my area sent their painters to pick up the things and their English can be pretty weak. The learning curve is extreme. I mean EXTREME! I have never had a job with such a large amount you had to learn. There are so many things you have to learn!!!!! TRUST ME!!! I can't stress that enough!!! If you can't learn about the product this is not a good job. I also want to add that some people have complained about a max of 26 hours a week. I couldn't imagine trying to live off of 26 hours a week. Also 5 gallon buckets can be heavy. Not a problem for me because I use it as my workout for the week lol. I also heard it is hard to become a full timer with this company especially at a slower store. I have no desire to become full-time so I am an exception.
