Pros

Coworkers are great and overall a lot of really good people work in the Spruce Pine area.

Cons

Upper management micromanages everything, won't listen to any recommendations from tenured staff, and subsequently makes bad decisions. This has been on a repeat since current CEO came in board. Decisions aren't made for longevity of the company, but instead pushing short term KPIs and help the upper management get their bonuses. To make matters worse, the short term goals constantly change based on whatever new, ill-advised edict has been decreed. This leaves everyone running around trying to put out whatever new fire management has created for themselves. People with expertise are leaving because they're fed up with working in chaos all the time and their knowledge isn't valued by those with decision making power.

Pros

It's all just so wonderful. Leadership, especially that from Europe is just so great. They like to change their goals every other day and I think that's great for the employee.

Cons

None, just so so great.

Pros

They improved the benefits, but that doesn’t cover up for their gross incompetence. HR actively trying to get employees to leave positive reviews on Glassdoor, usually around when someone gets a raise or considered for a new position, seems shady right?

Cons

Absolutely in no way should anyone accept a job here, even in desperation. They are an absolute mess, confused, disorganized, not a clue about how to operate a business in the US. Even if you accept a job with them, it’s highly likely that you will be laid off in a matter of months or reorganized out which has happened multiple times in the last 2 years. It’s actually quite amazing that a company can be this incompetent. They don’t actually care about you, especially if you are an American. They layoff long tenured employees with little severance because you’re just a number. Sibelco bankrupted a US company before and appears they learned nothing. It would not surprise me to see bankruptcy in the near future or sell off of parts of the business to stay afloat. Clearly they learned nothing from the last time they were inept and bankrupted a US business. Their European leadership are way in over their heads. It’s actually comical how bad they have messed up in the US glass market, competitors are eating their lunch and they aren’t intelligent enough to compete back. You need to run from this place, I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone, not even my worst enemy.
