Pros

Sales Assistants and Design Assistants are given opportunities to be promoted from within the company to a designer position.

Cons

Signature is a family owned and operated company but you will never meet the family that runs the company. Instead of taking the time to get to know their designers, they will simply form an opinion on you based on the amount of sales you make. Watch out for the shady pay structure. Their pay structure is presented in a way that sounds like you will be making 6 figures your first year as a designer...this is extremely false information. You will rely on the base salary the first year working at Signature and will not receive any commission until one of your sold jobs begins installation. Because of the installation lead time and horrible pay structure, it could potentially take a year to receive any commission. Once you do receive commissions, you will never be able to calculate how much you should be making due to the sketchy pay structure. When you ask for clarification on how commissions are paid, you will be told that it is not possible for you to determine how much you should be paid on a each job. Management doesn't even fully understand the pay structure. It is very sketchy and unreliable!!

Pros

You definitely will not be micro managed. In fact, you’re barely even managed, other than a few one-on-ones a year touching base about sales stats and goals, which don’t ever receive follow up.

Cons

I agree with all the other reviews here, if enough people say it, there’s probably truth to it. The reality of the pay is ridiculous. It takes forever to actually get any commissions and even when you finally get them, you won’t know ahead of time what you’ll be getting. It’s a true surprise on payday. Weeks later you’re snail mailed a “breakdown” of how the pay came to be but there’s no true clarity there at all. Management just suggests to trust is. Their pay and structure is archaic and shady at best. There not even an understanding of exactly when commission paychecks are paid, so you’ll have to guess their. No raises, so don’t expect that. They’re stuck on the idea of having the showrooms open on Saturdays even when stats don’t support the need to be. Not only does that mean you’ll have to sacrifices Saturdays, but it also creates quite the scheduling nightmare when trying to juggle peoples days off when the showroom is short staffed, which is the case most of the time due to such high turnover. When interviewing, they’ll give you the pitch that previous management sucked basically and they’re changing things now. Don’t fall for it. If you’re considering working here, also read reviews on Lami Wood Products, as they are the parent company. Management is truly ineffective - all levels. They’re stuck in their ways, and make major rash decisions. The owner won’t even say hi or acknowledge you if he happens to see you. Clients are not the priority at Lami. I’ve heard from clients countless times that there was no follow up on Lamis end. They’re not proactive at all and communications with the clients are it’s not a priority. The management style of the showrooms is extremely passive aggressive and instead of dealing with reoccurring performance issues with specific employees, excuse are made for them and you’re just expected to deal with it. Overall this is truly such an ineffective and toxic place to work. There’s no awareness of how to keep clients nor employees happy. If you do work here, be prepared for clean out the office you’re taking over, and to purge the precious designers files and things. Also provide your own tools as they don’t provide anything other than paper and some basic pens. Technology and changes are feared here. Their sister company is Elite Stone nas Marble which is the worst fabricator I’ve ever worked with. Many of my clients complained about their experience, and mine was awful as well. As a designer, if you think of doing something even slightly different, be ready to spec your own steel supports. Keep in mind their issues affect profit, which affect your pay. After working there and seeing some specific decisions that were made, I would never recommend nor trust them as an employer nor a remodeler for my own home.
