Pros
Some truly wonderful people work here.
Cons
Though Sittercity prides itself on keeping everyone updated on the state of the company, there is no real transparency here. The story changes from week to week — everything's going great, we're told, until there's another round of layoffs, and we're told that we have to tighten our belts. Trust and safety projects have been systematically deprioritized in favor of product revamps and new branding. There's an emphasis on metrics that doesn't fit the way people actually work, and makes it more difficult for people to be meaningfully recognized (though it's supposed to do the opposite). The company claims to value diversity but almost every new hire in 2017 was young, white, and male. Many women have left or been laid off. After complaints, a diversity committee was formed with no real power.
