Pros

There are no pros working here.

Cons

This is speaking from a Flight Operations Specialist perspective. This is not the place to be if you want to advance your career in aviation. As a flight operations specialist, your function is to troubleshoot the flight planning software when the airline has an issue. We are not licensed dispatchers and we do not dispatch flights. They might say we do dispatch flights but we don't and we do not have a chief flight dispatcher. However, some of us have flight dispatch and pilot backgrounds. And that experience is being wasted. NAVBLUE has a typical North American/boomer business mentality and they fail to see why, they can't compete with other similar companies. The department makes you do a "mini dispatch" exam in the interview process, for what reason, I'm not sure. This is more of a customer/tech support role and not a flight operations role. The company does not provide proper training and does not have a designated trainer. There is no room for advancement and no salary increases. Management has no training in flight dispatch and scant experience in aviation. Management treats the department more like a call center and only care about their SLA's and KPI's. We are asked about how to improve the department but none of our ideas are ever considered. The Flight Ops department gets a bad name because of the way we are trained to deal with tickets. We are trained to do an initial investigation, if the issue can't be resolved, it's then sent to another department for further investigation. The turnaround time for ticket resolution ranges from 1-5 days. This leads to the airlines becoming frustrated and angry with the department. The Flight Ops department is stuck in the middle waiting on resolution from others. Other departments that should be 24/7 are not and are understaffed or have been outsourced. There used to be a 24 hour NOTAM team but as mentioned they have been outsourced. Other “aviation departments” within Navblue will most likely be outsourced as well. Being associated with Airbus, you think this would be great for your aviation experience but it's not. It's an embarrassment to work here. Do not bother applying, it's a dead end job

We appreciate the perspective shared and would like to clarify why we have a strong focus on hiring individuals with dispatch experience although we are not an airline and do not provide managed flight planning/dispatch services for airlines. NAVBLUE is embedding a customer centric mindset across every area of our business. This means that we must be able to put ourselves into our customers' shoes and look at their problems from 'their' perspective and not our own. We are transforming our support team with a view to bringing more regional knowledge and expertise to our customers. For example, we look to hire NAVBLUE Flight Planning support team members who have dispatch expertise because we want them to understand our customers business needs. There are regional airspace differences between North America and Europe for example and so we are building regional support teams to better support our customers. The goal over the next 12 months is to embed this model across all NAVBLUE regions with the added benefit not just of improving support for our customers but to also offer signiicant career progression and mobility opportunities for staff. This is a significant area of investment for NAVBLUE and we are excited to have shaped the model for the new support organisation through the feedback not just of our customers but also through the suggestions of those people supporting them today in the Customer Experience team.

Pros

People are great, very knowledgable and willing to help get the job done. The customer experience team has really transformed how we work with customers which has been really great to see.

Cons

Some employees are remote but there is no rhyme or reason why. Sales leadership leads through fear and anger which makes for a toxic department and really unhappy employees on the front line. No onboarding at all, you show up on your first day and are just expected to know it all, especially if you are working in an office that isn't in Waterloo.
