Pros
If you are in leadership, you are often treated with great respect and admiration. This is especially true for members of the Executive Team or the Board of Directors, who are often reported to be attending lavish dinners and retreats, even overseas. Despite their luxurious lifestyle, they are often puzzled by the organization’s financial challenges.
Cons
Over the years, I have dedicated my loyalty to this company, sacrificing missed holidays and enduring long hours in pursuit of a mission that was presented to us as unquestionable. The company’s mantra was to “give back to the community” and to emphasize our collective responsibility. However, the reality is far different. The company’s true intentions are to exploit its employees, extracting every resource they have. When it becomes inconvenient, they will abandon them without offering any recognition or gratitude. Administrative staff are treated as disposable, second-class citizens, invisible and unheard. Their purported commitment to diversity is merely a marketing ploy. It is ironic that the majority of those who were recently laid off were individuals of color and members of “protected” groups that the company claimed to value. In retrospect, I can now unequivocally identify this as hypocrisy.
