Pros
Safety is priority #1 and they do care. There are electrical engineers back east that are pretty slick and can save your tail if you don't know too much about older PLC's. What I like most about this plant is the small town lifestyle it can provide for you & your family. In general, the average level of skill & experience across all departments is a above average. Management all worked their way up from hourly positions, the maintenance dept. (elec's & mech's) consists of maybe 15 people with a several hundred years of experience with all of them combined, the utilities are generally good people, the quarry dept. also has very experienced drivers/equipment operators. Also, all 3 shift supervisors are highly reasonable and amenable characters and they won't bring the hammer down unless you really deserve it. The pay is awesome, excellent 401k, great benefits.
Cons
You gotta clock in and out for lunches per the wonderful laws of the great state of California Also, its a surface mine, where they crush and cook tons of rocks an hour using industrial conveyance equipment, mostly located outside out in the elements: keep that in mind when if you're trying to imagine what your "work environment" will be like.
