Pros
If you've never worked in a hospital before SpecialtyCare has a two week paid training program where they'll teach you how to operate a few different machines that provide blood-product support in an operating room. Being such a large company they also have decent benefits (including things like continuing education).
Cons
I'm sure this varies by division, but for DFW: Scheduling was horrendous: the next day's cases get called out at 7pm the night before and you don't know how long the case will be until you get to the hospital (could be a half an hour, could be a twelve hour affair). During on the job "training" (which was supposed to last for 2 weeks, but ended up lasting for 5 months) you're on-call 24/7 and have to drive to every hospital in the metroplex for "experience" but only get paid training wage for 40 hours a week. Keep in mind the job is opening two sterile packages, plugging in a machine, pushing a start button and wiping down a machine with a baby wipe at the end of a case AND you have already spent two weeks in Nashville learning how to do it (maybe I'm just a genius but I had it figured out the first day, certainly no need for 5 months of "training").
