Pros

None, literally none. Cannot think of one but there is a 5 word minimum in this field.

Cons

No bathroom breaks, meal breaks, or sick time was common. Not allowed to take vacation regardless of reason, no staff to cover. 60+hr weeks from the word Go. I would often become so depressed with my situation, famished, exhausted, and sick that I would think of ANY way to get out. Now that I have been out for some time, my perspective has actually gotten worse. If you hear that SpecialtyCare is buying your company (the only way they can get employees), just leave. Do not sign that contract. I am embarrassed to list them on my resume. I should have just walked out in retrospect. My life is so much better now and it started the day I walked out.

Pros

There are a few people at this company who really do wish you the best and hope to see you succeed in your career. Key word is “few”

Cons

On the surface they do a good job of making it seem like there are plenty of opportunities for advancement and that they are really giving to their employees. Once you attempt to climb their “career ladder” you quickly realize that there are a lot of hoops to jump through, that are just not worth it. The percentage of salary increase is pretty terrible when you consider the investment you make into with your time and effort. Working call is also not worth the hassle. The amount of pay you receive while on call does not make up for the time you sacrifice. Yes patient care is critical but at a certain point so is your own self care. The call is made worse due to their poor staffing. Our team could easily use another 2 people to help relieve the demands put on everyone else but they simply are not looking for anyone.

Pros

Some nice co-workers. Direct payroll deposit seems to work fine, decent hotels while traveling.

Cons

No advancement or additional training opportunities, if any, it is on paper only. Useless education allowance, you will never find the time to actually use it. Constant schedule changes disguised as flexibility. Ad hoc travel required because of short staffing and colleagues quitting nationwide. The paperwork will drive you insane. Performance reviews conducted by demeaning and arrogant "leaders"
