Hello recent colleague, We are sorry to see you go. Thank you very much for the time you gave to your team and the communities you served. It sounds like you learned a lot and were given an opportunity for new career challenges, which allowed you to grow. We've set up most employee schedules to work within roughly 40 hours a week, even for salaried employees. Many of our employees with the most demanding portfolios manage to work around 40 hours per week. It sounds like we missed an opportunity to find out was going on before you got burned out and help you become more efficient and find balance in your life. I hope you shared some specifics about dishonesty you experienced during your exit interview, we take exit interviews very seriously. Regarding pay. You are correct, some managers at other companies make more and some less. Often the high pay is for very experienced managers with large portfolios (sometimes more than double the load of a Spectrum portfolio). We also offer some employees a chance to learn the industry from scratch as you referenced. These managers don't make what an experienced manager does, but we invest heavily in them and help them grow while here. We offer multiple steps of career development within the CM role itself and then into mentoring and supervisory roles. We know getting this experience takes patience and there are other companies who may pay an experienced manager more, but we offer a very competitive salary, a balanced portfolio, training and the benefits you mentioned, which make for a very compelling opportunity for many who want what we offer and fit our culture. Thank you again for working here. We hope your next career move offers you all of the things you are looking for.

Pros

- Competitive benefits package, including five weeks of PTO, which is generous for the industry - Overall company culture is generally positive on the surface - At the time, the Austin team was collaborative and supportive, with strong peer relationships - Client-facing leadership was capable and invested in maintaining good relationships - The role offered solid exposure to the Austin market and portfolio operations

Cons

- Significant leadership inconsistencies that negatively impacted morale, trust, and daily operations - While PTO is generous in theory, workload and expectations often made it difficult to realistically take time off - The Austin market lacked sufficient structure and operational clarity, leading to inefficiencies and unnecessary stress - Senior leadership support often felt performative rather than actionable, particularly during high-pressure periods - People management was a major weakness, with poor communication, limited accountability, and inadequate support for employees - Most concerning was how employee departures were handled. Professionalism and respect were not maintained after notice was given, creating an environment that felt uncomfortable and, at times, perceived as retaliatory - Leadership behavior during transitions undermined trust and left a lasting negative impression
