Pros
The ability to earn fridays off is a good perk if you're one of the lucky few (doubt it) that are not drowning under their work load and cannot take advantage of this "privilege" (which is easily stripped away the minute you begin getting behind with work). In-house training is nice, but having to stay 2-4 weeks exclusively in San Antonio at their corporate head quarters for training can be a rough experience. I really wish there were more pros, but there just isn't. This is a decent place to start out and get your feet wet in order to transition to a better company.
Cons
Though they do "offer" flexible hours in the beginning, don't be surprised when you are reprimanded for not being at work right on time or leaving a few minutes early because you had a late meeting the night before. You think they won't notice when you head out 10 minutes early, until you realize that you are surrounded by cameras all over the office. With everyone being increasingly overworked, good luck ever spending time with your family as you will certainly be working evenings and most weekends. They also "offer" paid volunteer hours, but what they don't say is that most other companies in the industry give you TWO weeks of vacation to use and with Spectrum you get ONE week of vacation and ONE week of volunteer hours that you have to jump through hoops to use, not to mention that you are overloaded to the point of burnout and so most never use these hours, which turns out to be a great deal for Spectrum! Salary and benefits are not remotely competitive (about 15k less than competitors), but they will offer a pay increase when you've "proven your worth" (don't hold your breath). They get by with paying people lower than industry norms due to a "fun company culture" they promote. The "Best Places to Work" award that they've won for 7 years in a row is due to the fear they place in their employees to rank them with 5 stars in order to keep their jobs. This is NOT a healthy culture. If you consider a fun company culture to look like corporate micromanagement, cameras and verbal/public harassment every Monday morning for losing clients due to overloading, then this just might be the perfect place for you!
