Pros
Spectrum Retirement Communities' managerial relationships are great and it's great to know that the managers are great with working with others. SRC's also great at making sure staff members have benefits and are making sure that they are utilizing these benefits if they want to. SRC makes sure they know that their employees feel appreciated with all of their incentive programs. HighPointe Assisted Living and Memory Care in particular is an amazing community to be a part of. The residents are different, they're more than happy to listen to your stories! My workplace in particular is always cheerful and the residents know that I'm more than happy to help them in anyway possible. I've been here for over three years, and I can't imagine leaving! This community specifically has helped me continue my career here while still be able to attend school full time as well.
Cons
SRC seems like an extremely successful company but for some reason is only able to pay their employees just a little above minimum wage. These are residents that are nearing the end of their lives, they're paying extra money for someone to do the things that they aren't able to themselves anymore. The staff members in any community needs to know that if the company is going to pay them more, the output of their jobs need to be higher quality. We hire lots of staff that don't speak English either. While I am more than happy to welcome as many different types of culture to the community, the residents at almost any SRC is most likely going to speak English. I think it's ridiculous to have a resident not be able to properly communicate with the person that is assisting them. Also, trying to communicate with them over the radios makes things even tougher. Not only those, but from what I have seen SRC is also fairly lenient on letting go staff members that are obviously not a good fit to the company.
