Pros

When it was Hess it was a much more peaceful and understanding environment. Such as YOU could use the bathroom and eat if you needed too. Direct Deposit and benefits for full time.

Cons

Didn't have a District Manager for 6 months or a Manager. Manager would leave to go work at another job leaving employees to handle a store alone Pumping Gas and Running Inside The Store by themselves. A silly grid they use to enforce people to close and open so 8 hours of sleep was usually out of the question. If you covered someone's shift and worked 16 hours straight you weren't compensated in anyway and forced to rush if you wanted to eat or go to the bathroom. 16 hour shifts usually should involve time to eat and use the bathroom but not at speedway. You get sick and vacation time but if you request off so you can use that paid time off you'll most likely be denied or fired if you decide to use that time. Management will fire you for something very insignificant meanwhile they will leave you alone to work by yourself for 8 hours and in NJ you have full service gas so most of the time you will have to lock the store just so you don't have to worry about customer theft. Selling point racks are always filled with garbage no one wants, but they enforce it on the employees to sell it. If they don't hit a certain number of diabetes and spicy butter fingers sold per month the employees never hear the end of it. The worst experience I've had was making sure the store I worked at in NJ had zero conversion, zero theft, and was covering the manager's position while being paid as a sales associate. I never got any recognition for any of the hard work I did for that store. They eventually threw a Manager into my store after months of not having one but she never came into work and would edit her hours so she would still get her 50 hour salary for only working 3 hours. It took the district manager 3 months to realize she was scamming payroll. Speedway in NJ is a disaster and the gas attendants are treated like it's the easiest job ever to work in harsh conditions, get harassed by customers, and work 8 hours straight with no breaks. You get a break if you smoke cigarettes though so that's cool right? If you work at speedway have fun pooping your pants and don't bring a lunch unless you want it covered in gasoline.

Pros

1 star just because I couldn’t put ZERO STARS You have a job that’s at minimum wages

Cons

The stores are old and all of the equipment needs to be repaired on a daily basis. Really needs to be replaced and all stores remodeled.
