Pros

-Benefits are actually good for the industry but by no means the best you’ll ever find working, they essentially claim to raise the bar when they’re really just “not terrible” in this aspect. -Flexible schedule when your store has labor, so long as you’re honest with your managers, but only as a part-time or full-time employee and not a manager. -Bonus is great when you get them, but also going to elaborate in cons -Your coworkers can really become like family, especially in the hardest working conditions and some of the regulars make the day go by really quick

Cons

Management and inspectors have no empathy, even in labor shortage. Stores can be short to skeleton crews at this time with the labor shortage and management still have unrealistic expectations of what can be accomplished. I work in a tier 5 store, the second busiest, with near constant customer service going on at all times and often with 1 other person who is in their mid-sixties and a swing shift/night shift that works completely alone. This means I need to pick and choose often between which tasks I choose to do in a 10 hour shift (and I often work more like 11-13) and often stuff like pump cleaning, or outside yard garbage pick-up falls to the wayside while prioritizing inside cleanliness (having food service equipment in poor condition is more disgusting and unappealing), and actually keeping product stocked for the customers to buy. Management and inspectors do not care that my sales can still be up from last year but the store is not as maintained as even I would like. This attitude of “just get it done” without support is completely unnecessary, unaware, tone-deaf, and downright dumb. When I have my boss telling me the mulch in my lot needs to be picked up, or there was a packet of cleaner left next to a box of gloves while I have an empty cooler, my Hot Dog cart just sold out, there was an explosion at the cappuccino machine and I’ve got a line of customers to the back of the store, you’re just showing how useless you actually are. Furthermore, the pay is an absolute joke. In a time when gas stations down the street are offering 16 an hour, this company offers 12.05 an hour (the 5 cents feels like an insult) starting wage and 13 if you agree to work anytime and any shift…which is bonkers. And if you’ve worked at the company for years, screw you. I have a coworker that’s been here for 12 years, worked management at some point, never calls off and Is barely making a dollar more than starting wage. This includes myself which has been with the company for 6. And not having a raise at all for moving from an assistant manager to a lead assistant manager? Shameful. And this brings me to the bonus incentives, which, once again, is based on your ability to pass inspections, which, if you have no staff, is quite often simply impossible to accomplish so some that work here don’t even dream of their bonuses.

* Frequent employee call-offs created staffing shortages. * Regularly required to work double shifts to cover staffing gaps. * Management expectations often felt unrealistic given available staffing levels. * Workload was heavily dependent on previous shifts completing their responsibilities. * Tasks were frequently left unfinished by other shifts, creating additional work and stress. * High levels of stress due to understaffing and inconsistent shift performance. * Work-life balance could be difficult because of unexpected extended shifts.
