Pros
Intelligent, helpful, and caring employees who manage weekly abuse from leadership at the direction of executives.
Cons
Where shall I begin? Nepotism runs rampant at Spire. Job security is nonexistent, especially in sales. The CEO and COO happen to be married with children. As for the CPO, he seems to be completely clueless to make meaningful changes. The executives at the company push for a "woke" culture, but their understanding of terms like "diversity and inclusion" is clouded at best. They may conduct surveys and make promises of no repercussions, but the truth is, if you stick your head out too far, it will likely get chopped off. Politics and a lack of accountability constantly play out, and if you don't toe the line, you can expect to find yourself shown the door. They prioritize creating and advancing opportunities for friends and family, even if it means sacrificing your own job. There is absolutely zero loyalty towards dedicated staff. Burnout happens quickly at Spire due to their "always-on" culture. While they may blame remote work for poor production, the real culprits are the lack of retention, limited opportunities for advancement, poor work-life balance, the COO, low salaries, terrible management, and subpar benefits. These factors contribute to an average tenure of just about 12 months, if not less. It's worth noting that executives and senior management grant themselves the privilege of working remotely 100% of the time while demanding that everyone else be in the office 3-5 days a week. The lack of continuity in projects is a direct result of the high turnover rate (currently at 45% and rising), inadequate documentation, and abysmal management. There is no formal process for performance reviews or merit-based salary increases, despite what they may claim during the interview process. Furthermore, there seems to be no desire to change this state of affairs. The culture at Spire is the most toxic I have ever encountered, with the US-based offices being particularly problematic. The list of issues could go on and on. While there may be some incredible opportunities to gain experience and knowledge in the space industry at Spire, I strongly advise against sacrificing your mental health and well-being for them. I highly recommend seeking employment elsewhere and not settling for what you hope Spire could become. With the current CEO, COO, CPO, and even CTO in charge, it is unlikely that anything will change for the better anytime soon.
