Pros

Good salary and benefits. No week-ends or major holidays. For experienced OR nurses this is a good gig. The parent company has a SNAP program to provide intensive training for nurses who want to specialize in the operating room or PACU/Pre-Op. This is an excellent opportunity for new nurses who want to specialize in a critical care area. This is part of the HCA St. David's chain, which won the Malcom Baldridge National Quality Award. It is the only health care company that has won this award, so I think that says something about the facility.

Cons

Hours can be long on busy days. It's a surgery center, so expect strong personalities and have a thick skin!

Pros

-Insurance benefits are pretty good.

Cons

-High turn over for all positions. -Low morale, staff feel unappreciated. -High expectations that are unrealistic due to high nurse:patient ratio of 1:6, and tech patient ratios of 1:16. -Point system for callout/tardies. -Low pay, very low raises, if you get one at all.
