Pros
Healthcare totally covered within St. Joseph's network of physicians. Some nice coworkers within IT. A handful of competent people that actually get the work done. IT has their own space/floor in a separate building. Parking is plentiful. PMO communicates often and frequently within the team.
Cons
Stressful work environment. Limited work from home opportunities. Unreasonable hours and work-life balance. Some terrible and incompetent managers/directors in IT and hospital staff. Not a lot of room for growth and was ignored when looking to switch to a different starting position in IT. Lots of micromanagement, especially in regard to timesheets, meetings, and reporting. Lots of turnover among IT management. Underappreciation of project managers by some IT and hospital leadership staff. Open floor plan in IT allows noise to easily travel and there is a lack of privacy, plus lots of cameras. Lack of respect for some consultants and vendors. Travel to the hospital and parking there is sometimes painful. Responsibilities outside of Project Management sometimes was overwhelming and outside the job description (ordering food, photo editing, yearly IT newsletter). Some IT managers/directors were given special treatment. Pension was converted to 403b.
