Pros

Overall, the network itself great to work for. They are not an organization to hire dozens of people quickly, stretch themselves thin financially and then lay you off in 18 months in a workforce reduction cycle. It is an organization constantly looking forward, trying to provide the community with the best healthcare possible with some of the most compassionate clinical staff I have ever met (almost 20 years in the healthcare industry). They are constantly striving to improve not only how many people they can care for but also the quality of care. The network is large enough that there are multiple opportunities for you to grow in your skills.

Cons

Because of the approach to hiring, there is a definite sense of being overworked and understaffed especially when the network is growing at its current rate. We have been promised "a breather" between large projects but, in 10 years, we have never gotten that breather. Also, specific to the IT department, there are a number of trends that are concerning: nepotism, lack of ability to discern when contractors don't have the skills they promised (and not letting them go), policies/procedures/workflows that are discarded in favor of politics, not learning from past mistakes and repeating them over (and over) again.
