Pros
- There are many staff members that have worked at this Redmond location for 5+ years. They have experienced many changes but they stick around because they care about the residents. - Staff members are very friendly and they really try to engage the residents
Cons
There is certainly more cons than pros. 1) There has been at least a different executive director each year for the last 5 years or so except for this year. The one that started this year is gone and a new one is there now. Families found out by seeing a black and white newsletter on the front desk. Staff found out about the letting go of other director and were offered minimal explanation. The owners were there to explain but it didn't help the situation. I personally liked the old director. He was fun and you could tell he cared for the staff members, the residents and the families. 2) The new executive director is really unapproachable. She hides in her office and stays there majority of the day. She has spoken to staff members, makes remarks and makes them feel like their job is at stake. She has not made an effort to know many of the staff members names. She doesn't know mine. 3) I have heard from families and residents that the census is low. They talk to each other, to staff. They don't know how low but they have counted many empty rooms. Many residents and families are just dissatisfied with the constant changes. 4) There has been issues with short staffing. 5) The residents that they have are harder to care for physically. There are a lot of residents that are very heavy care in the assisted living side. Most of the residents in the memory unit are heavy care too but that is expected since all have advanced Dementia. - There is a big chance that management will bring in people just for the sake of having people in the building. They may not be good for an assisted living setting. In the end, it is about the money and the staff members are the ones that feel the brunt of it. Same staff members with possibly more people coming in that require more time, are more demanding and need more help. - Culture is backwards. If I could give it a NO STAR, I would. I am staying for a little while because I care about the residents. I plan to leave soon. The work environment doesn't feel good.
