Pros
Profit sharing in this day and age is unheard of. Kudos to Stinker for exceeding expectations and sharing the profitability of the company with it's people. 25% 401K match is also wonderful. I can't thank Charley Jones enough for these. My job is enjoyable with a light atmosphere most of the time.
Cons
Poor opportunity for advancement. When you come to work for the company they tell you that as long as you work hard, make yourself available, score well on your annual reviews, and exceed expectations that you be eligible for advancement. NOT TRUE! The top 5 in this company feel that the lower level employees are just that - lower level. Sure if you want to advance from a cashier to an assistant manager, that opportunity abounds. But if you want to go above assistant manager, you need not bother to apply. Managers are overworked and underpaid. College degrees are the only opportunity to advance with this company, even if you NEVER worked a day in retail. If you have a degree - you will advance. The culture of this company is a lie. They tell you that they hire from the inside - but they don't. Oh sure - you can apply for the open position, but you won't get it without that degree. Your years of experience that you might bring to the table (from inside and/or outside the company) will not matter. They are not interested.
