Pros

paycheck, benefits, lunch time, location, nothing more

Cons

the in-crowd gets away with everything. Union and HR are a joke with favorites throughout. good employees are judged unfairly and treated poorly. management is not supportive but good at threatening. unprofessional and condescending coworkers thrive here especially if they are connected to the appalling management who do whatever they want here. no morals or professionalism. corrupt and nasty environment.

Pros

Depending on the department you are working in, it can be an incredibly supportive and worthwhile work environment.

Cons

Working at the Career Center is potentially the worst department at Stony Brook. The four members of leadership refer to each other as "sisters" and perpetuate a toxic culture where they blame those below them for their poor management skills. Unfortunately, these leadership members are also friends with those above them, so even though there have been multiple complaints from staff, their superiors give them a slap on the wrist and never give them actual consequences for their heinous actions.
