Pros

-If you care about students, you will be surrounded by other staff that does too (this is not always typical in a school environment). Students still reach out to me and will always be welcome connections in my life, because I am eternally invested in their future, despite no longer being their teacher or mentor. -Interacting with a team creating a digital tool to individualize learning was so unique and really exciting

Cons

-Staff does not practice self care. Many are worked to the bone and feel terrible when they cannot work harder. This attitude is enforced by every layer of leadership, and it is a big reason that people do not stay in the classroom (they move into a core service or they move on. -Summit is experimenting with education. That's really exciting! However, if you are in the classroom, you see first hand how some decisions affect test subjects, and that can be really hard to be the face associated with failed experiments. This is especially true as teachers become less autonomous with regards to curriculum and program choices in their classroom. -Boundaries between teachers/mentors and students are very blurry and management encourages the lowest level of personal boundary. (eg, you are expected to give all mentees your cell number and staff did not think it was strange to add students on snapchat)

Pros

Great for retirees or anyone in grad school, a lot of free time.

Cons

Some kids don't listen, and sometimes you have to deal with entitled, reckless drivers.

Pros

Good coworkers and positive relationship with students. Frequent PD weeks during expeditions Constantly given snacks in the staff room

Cons

Toxic work Environment, if you weren't personally liked by admin, or rocked the boat in anyway they would talk bad about you. It was almost as if we were still in high school...as high school teachers. There was a lack of transparency from Admin. There was a lack of proper training, I was asked to do unethical things while on the job, ex) asked to graduate my students anyway when they had not earned the grades to pass or had met the attendance expectations. Faced gender discrimination from a Coworker, creating a hostel work environment for me.
