Pros

Incredible faculty/staff working together with an all-hands-on-deck attitude. With their unique model focused on individualized instruction, you really get to know each of your students through daily check-ins and develop meaningful relationships with them as well as with your mentees and their families. Pretty extensive professional development. You're constantly observed and receiving feedback (which I value as a teacher).

Cons

The demands are incredibly high. It's not surprising that most teachers are young and without families. Large turnover rate. Faculty/staff morale is constantly low. Way too much focus on data to a point that it is overwhelming. Grades are sometimes changed by administration to move students along and improve data. The model: it's constantly changing but it still isn't clear if students are succeeding. Hard to teach math in a meaningful way.

Pros

Great for retirees or anyone in grad school, a lot of free time.

Cons

Some kids don't listen, and sometimes you have to deal with entitled, reckless drivers.

Pros

Good coworkers and positive relationship with students. Frequent PD weeks during expeditions Constantly given snacks in the staff room

Cons

Toxic work Environment, if you weren't personally liked by admin, or rocked the boat in anyway they would talk bad about you. It was almost as if we were still in high school...as high school teachers. There was a lack of transparency from Admin. There was a lack of proper training, I was asked to do unethical things while on the job, ex) asked to graduate my students anyway when they had not earned the grades to pass or had met the attendance expectations. Faced gender discrimination from a Coworker, creating a hostel work environment for me.
