Pros
Business folks are great and most of the teammates within PMO are good hard workers. Good compensation.
Cons
One of the most toxic and disorganized culture I have experienced in my 10 plus years as a PM. - PMO disorganized: In 3 years, we've had 4 executive leaders come in and out while being re-org'd 4 times. There is zero strategy or care of impact to lower level teammates of changes. There's a reason for the highest attrition rate of any organization in SunTrust across all levels. - PM's are given project based on need not by skill set. If you are an Infrastructure PM, you will potentially be working on a Regulatory program, while the Regulatory PM will be working on an Infrastructure program. - Management does not care about your career. This is not for all of the management team but the ones I've encountered. There is no development plan, career plan. They will tell you that you need to set your own career but if you try to take your career into your own hands, you will be reprimanded. - Good old boys club. I've seen talented and well qualified PM's stay in the same position while 35 year olds are being promoted to CTO level. SunTrust is a good old boy company. You're judged on how well you follow and who you know - not by how well you lead or your work effort. - Private conversations will be shared publicly. If you talk to your boss privately, he/she will share it with others at their level.
