Pros

Great place to work for 15+ years until leadership blatantly lied.

Cons

Don’t apply for the Business Office Coordinator position. It is being dissolved. Over the past two years we were told the BOC position was being optimized. It was stated it would be dismantled into 3 different roles and that we would have a choice of which role we would like. We were told that this was being done so that we could be subject matter experts instead of a Jack of all trades. We were also told that this was being done so that we could receive better pay. If you have ever worked in this industry in this role, you know this position has an extreme workload that is undervalued by corporate leadership. The community’s Executive Director is the only leader that truly knows and understands the pile on this role receives. Those of us who stay in this role stay because we are called to do what we do. And we enjoy what we do. No call was ever held with the BOCs. All information was relayed to us by our Executive Directors. Imagine their shock and ours when the 3 different roles actually turned out to be 1 role and favor was given to the business professionals in the regional positions. Additionally, the pay was not going to be better, it was actually much less. Imagine the horror and shock of our Executive Directors when they realized they had been fed an outright lie and had given us false information. As a result, a vast number of us have been laid off with only 4 weeks of severance. They didn’t even have the decency to give us enough time to find a job in this high inflation economy. This is a company that touts itself on being a great place to work. It is as though a rug has been suddenly pulled out from under us and we are a laughing stock to them. They had absolutely no consideration for our livelihoods. What a lowdown dirty shame. Do not apply for this job, it is being dissolved.

Pros

It's no a bad company, its bad leadership at the top with no senior living experiance and understanding of the business making horrific decisions.

Cons

Activity Directors are now being required to manage the concierge desk in addition to their existing responsibilities, which already include running daily programming, driving the bus, and supporting residents across the community. This expanded role means they are expected to be available from to 8 to 8, 7 days a week to, cover concierge shifts, train new concierge staff, and answer their phones even after they have clocked out. These are hourly employees. Expecting them to remain reachable and accountable outside of paid hours . Adding concierge management, shift coverage, and staff training on top of a already full plate, without any additional compensation, sends a message that their time and wellbeing are not valued. Work life balance is NOT important to the new leadership team. Activity Directors are the heartbeat of a senior living community. They are also the lowest paid managers in the building. Burning them out with unsustainable expectations will ultimately affect the residents they work so hard to serve and the business as a whole. Whoever allowed this decision to be made without any kind of raise, clearly has no clue about what it takes to be an Activity director and lacks education in senior living. Their attitude through all this is they want to raise the Activity Directors up and give them more opportunities to grow, but not financially. And if they dont like it, theres the door.
