Pros
The feeling of giving back. Working with seniors can be really rewarding. When you have a bad day and see the face of one of your residents, you remember why you're there.
Cons
I personally think it's overpriced. The amount paid verses the amount of care received doesn't seem to equal out. Especially when staffing in certain departments is severely understaffed. It burns out the staff and the residents don't get the quality of care they deserve. Also, they want you to put in the hours but don't want you in overtime. The workload for any coordinator is way too much. You're on call 24/7 and not compensated. Get calls constantly on days off and are expected to take them, again without compensation. Impossible for a person with children or a family that wants you to "turn off" on your days off.
