Pros
Decent pay (if you negotiate a salary you can live with), decent benefits, location (if you like 70 degrees days and sunshine in the winter), lots of overtime pay.
Cons
No path for progression in career except for entry level employees, limited and random pay increases, location (if you don't like 120 degree days and blistering sun in the summer), very long work hours (expect 50 to 60 hours a week with very few 40 hour weeks), very high workload, must be jack-of-all-trades. I work embedded into a US Army (DOD civilians) organization which is very disorganized with poor leadership, non-existent interoffice communications and poorly conceived facilities. I tried to separate my TRAX review from the US Army (I'd rate them even lower as an employer).
