I had planned to retire from this company some day. Unfortunately had to leave due to an incompetent boss. The environment at TVH is very political. If you suck up you might get promoted. If you don't, you won't get promoted. Turnover seemed to be high, specially in management. I was told this is due to micromanaging by some of the executives and senior management. Basically you are told how to do your job. When you do as you are told and it doesn't turn out right, you are accused of not trying hard enough or doing it wrong. Even though the company has been very profitable, raises and profit sharing aren't much. Bonuses are based on the whim of the executives and some people that do the same job don't get the same bonus. Well below what I received at the company I went to after leaving TVH. Some of the older employees are told they are maxed out on salary and won't get raises. Too many executive decisions are personal decisions and not always what is best for the company. Always looking for someone to blame when any thing doesn't turn out as planned. Due to the high turnover, they do not get rid of underperforming employees, they just hire more. Several acquisitions, some of which they keep the employees they should let go because all the good ones left after the acquisition. Sends the message that they only want "bodies" to fill positions and the employees in general are not really valued by the company. Management seems to think that employees, suppliers and customers are "the enemy." The number one priority in the company is profit. Better employees, better quality parts, better suppliers and better prices to the customer are all looked as counter to profitability. They say they want "quality" but when the price goes up they just look for a cheaper place to purchase even knowing the quality is not as good. Again, it's all about profit. They gave us an employee survey to fill out and the results showed most employees did not feel the management was competent. Nothing changed. The solution was to not have anymore employee surveys.
