Pros
Pay was excellent and there are a ton of resources in terms of software, data, and expertise. It is a big company and it commands a lot of respect in the Twin Cities. Target isn't going away and though there are ups and down in retail, it fills a specific niche and the company is going to thrive.
Cons
In the first week, people will tell you how long they've worked at Target. If you are new, or God forbid coming there mid-career, you will be treated as outsider. The promotion system is very flat at the bottom, but super steep past manager. Once you realize that there are few people over 40 and almost none over 50, you start making a plan for something new. Amazon is a popular follow on. There was some very weird passive aggressive views and if you aren't Caucasian, straight, and Lutheran, you aren't ever going to really fit in and you will feel it. The amount of MBAs who came in the summer i did was in the teens and three years later only two remain. Again, if you are out of your 20s you need to steer clear.
