Pros
Good benefits, good pay, some nice people
Cons
Unrealistic workloads and expectations, constantly changing goal posts and agendas, management is buddy-buddy with HR and openly talks about politics at work(m*ga), no proper recognition for leaders nor team members, food delivered at 2pm sits in the break room for the 5pm closers who can’t eat it until their breaks at 8/9p. Yet, closers are expected to be grateful for anything at all. ETLs are always on different pages, and do not know how they want to manage their store. ETLs are inconsistent, uneducated on their departments, and lack proactivity. There is no feeling, nor example, of teamwork among ETLs or Leadership. If your department is on fire, oops. Deal with it. They will not offer help, but they will call you to pick a red batch because they forgot to actually look at the schedule when they made it. Allocations of hours is a joke. ETLs need proper training on how to utilize the hours given instead of dumping all the hours into 1 department, and wonder why there’s no grocery mid or tech closer. Never any hours to keep more than 1 lane open, but thank god we added 50 extra hours for inbound to roll another truck, and leave pallets of untouched merchandise in the back for 2+ weeks again!!! Leadership lacks accountability and allows irresponsible, catty, and lazy TMs to utilize hours and waste time on the sales floor. Even if you’re close to getting a bad apple out, lack of follow up causes that bad apple to rot and spread. No consistent follow-up with leader expectations; often certain leaders get to clock in, loaf all day, gossip with TMs about other TMs, and leave. HR is useless and biased. District Leaders expect miracles to happen with minimal hours, and no actual guidance, follow-up, or training for management teams. No focus on local communities, team success, nor guest experience. Focus is only on faked metrics, and whatever makes the company looks good VS actually doing good. No way for leadership or team members to advance. If you don’t shine in your current role, they will refuse to move you to a better suited role, and fail to give proper training to improve your current performance. Everyone is expected to work their hardest while only receiving 10¢ - 85¢ per year as a “raise.” Meanwhile, the leaders over Starbucks can make $30/hr to run an area that doesn’t exceed 30sqft. Compensation can be a slap in the face. External leaders start at $23.50 while internal hires get $20 and a “be grateful” type of attitude from ETLs. Amazing leaders are worked to the bone while their ETLs cower in the office, or take a vacation every 2 weeks. ETLs will do as much as a couple fulfillment orders, and then sit on the computer all day pretending to be busy. ETLs and Leaders try to split with underaged TMs, but HR turns a blind eye because they are also always on vacation. If HR actually sat in the office to do their job, Target would have better team members, leadership, and better training. I could go on.
