Pros

Many wonderful coworkers who are passionate and thoughtful

Cons

Organization suffers from power and decision making held by a select few. Unclear paths toward growth and promotion. Several poorly executed re-orgs in just a few short years.

Teaching Lab Response

Thank you for sharing your perspective and for acknowledging the passion and dedication of our amazing Teaching Lab team members. We believe in our team and support team members’ leadership and professional development in many important ways. Each team member has a Home Manager who collaborates with them throughout every year to set and pursue customized professional and personal development goals aligned with our Values and Competencies and the participatory strategic plan we created in community with our entire team. Team members receive targeted and full-organizational support - including monthly individual coaching through Boon Health and discretionary resources - to pursue their goals and identify and engage with leadership pathways within Teaching Lab to advance in their careers. We happily and gratefully acknowledge the ways our growth - in organizational size and impact - have pushed us to revisit our organizational structure in order to meet the evolving needs of our team, our partners, and the field. We are working hard to organize our work and collaboration in service of our educational equity mission and, in a spirit of distributed leadership, our Executive Team works and makes decisions in close partnership with leaders across the organization, soliciting, respecting, and being responsive to feedback offered through conversations, impact assessments, observations, and survey responses. All of this contributes to a strong feeling of engagement and agency across our team; this feeling was quantified in a recent Employee Engagement and Commitment survey which found that 85% of our team members believe their Home Manager appropriately involves them in decisions that impact their work and work environment.

Pros

Maximize impact with minimal time commitment. Great way to network and strategize with educational partners that impact all the stakeholders affecting K -14. Co-create educational tools that end users actually want.

Cons

Pros

People seem relatively polite and nice

Cons

Lack of transparency. Bait and switch operation. Completely disorganized. Underpay and undervalue their employees. Overall they aren't capable of offering the services that they claim to offer schools because they don't have the depth of knowledge. They just make up names, protocols, and ridiculous acronyms for everything. I felt like I was in an SNL skit every time I had to interact with them.
