Pros
There are some talented and great people. But at the same time the good ones are leaving.
Cons
- Hacking of computers. Screen flashing Taking away mouse control. Disconnected on purpose from meetings. Audio interruptions. Somehow, people can lower bandwidth to make people sound bad or funny to interrupt them. Random things break or change constantly. The computer takes an abnormal time to launch. I have tried multiple devices as well as Wi-Fi locations. I have had to resort to using personal devices and working offline for fear of being monitored and abused. - Quite a lot of people are doing unprofessional Mobbing / bullying. - An environment of fear where team calls are silent with cameras off. It's counterintuitive for having a creative environment where people can collaborate. People often skip weekly team meetings, or they are cancelled often. - Fake deadlines and overwork, which cause lousy working conditions and situations. Illogical situations where people are all working at the same time when they have dependencies with one another. - Poor communication and Production. - Tech / Engine is a poor house of cards. Things are often breaking to the point where Devs must be QA a lot. As well as fixing more things randomly broken than tasks at hand. I have seen numerous people get angry and ignored that they are expected to do QA when things are constantly failing. People have left because of this. - Production doing game design, which causes conflicts of interest, issues and redesign. People are ignored when it's blatantly apparent by many that there is not enough time during questionable deadlines. - People are generally ignored the majority of the time. They often do regular post-mortems when times permit. But, many talented individuals who have provided logical solutions or quick steps that can be taken are ignored. Or it's a case that they try to do several solutions, either one at a time or all at once randomly with no prior communication. Or a review afterwards. This creates even more confusion and chaos when multiple departments or teams work together. No one knows what the method of the week is. - Nice people have resorted to being angry to be heard. Which is not a normal or comfortable environment during team scrums. - Lack of resources and people to work on the game from a basic standard competitive perspective. - Lack of processes and pipelines, which cause numerous people to help and invent solutions that fall on deaf ears. - Game design is not very efficient or seems to be going anywhere. In circles a few times. Majority of Dying light two was done without design documentation. Having game designers has been mentioned as something "new" within the company majority of design has been done by programmers in the past. Assume this is because the tech is poor to work with. - The company is a revolving door of people constantly leaving. Especially Warsaw Studio so much so that they had to get rid of the studio email address as there were more leaving emails than game development emails. They are on their 4th odd 'Lead' designer in pre-production of all times. Never witnessed so many talented people leave or switch at the early stages of a games development. - Lack of people also happens due to switching between projects which orchestrates production issues. - Times when HR had to have several regular meetings with every team member in the company because things were that poor. Several good HR people have left unfortunately. - Micromanagement and lack of creativity to the point where people are treated like a cog in a machine. There have been instances where people are also bullied for lack of initiative when management have a split personality. - People, even leads are not being included in meetings, being updated on latest conversations as well as being denied materials that impact their ability to work. Not only that but it manifests a very toxic environment of distrust. - Not enough collaboration or feedback. - Lack of knowledge and experience from a company perspective on Jira and confluence because many were ignored for year's on purchasing this industry standard software. So people are only getting into the flow of it now more or less. - Lots of expats leaving in comparison to Polish people. Lack of diversity.
