In this time of belt tightening it would seem prudent to not allow inexperienced engineers quite so much freedom to implement projects that long time employees know have already been tried without success. It is a culture that values an engineering degree over experience. This tends to sabotage "teamwork" and robs the company of utilizing assets they have grown. An good employee that has repeatedly demonstrated their worth should be utilized and compensated. I am not referring to myself but to other situations that I have witnessed.
