Pros
Interesting experience abroad; good way to gain experience and propel my career forward.
Cons
1. They did not provide clear information on reimbursement for very large expenses. While traveling, at times I was expected to front $1,000 on my own credit card for hotels, only to be paid back a month later. 2. Poor communication. It was only when I was having major problems in the field and felt like my life was threatened that the staff in California spoke with me and tried to help. 3. They hire global staff, send them out, and rely on smaller contractors to do everything else. Lack of support. 4. Payments were not a direct deposit; they had to send a check to my home in the USA, and a friend had to deposit them. This led to a great lag in my funds, and I often went two months without pay. They also messed up my payment once, and this really threatened my livelihood. 5. Lack of awareness what is happening in the field. My boss was incompetent and a bully, but no one from the company would have known this, even if I reported it, because it would have been one word against another. Lack of checks and balances.
