Pros

Information technology is respected as a needed function at TI which is a technology company.

Cons

Each few years the size of the IT group has been reduced by either a Reduction In Force (RIF) or early retirement or both. The IT group has suffered as a result of this with increased work loads and decreased appreciation from the business as the business users are unable to get the help that they need with computer software/hardware issues. IT is not viewed as a core competency and has been increasingly out-sourced to the detriment of TI, in my opinion.
